Carles Torras is a filmmaker from Barcelona, whose career spans more than 15 years. He has written and directed works such as The Paramedic (2020), Callback (2017), Open 24h (2011), Trash (2009) and Joves (2004). His films have participated at major film festivals like San Sebastian, BFI London, Sitges and Mar del Plata, and accumulates more than 30 nominations and awards.
2014 — PRESENT
His latest most relevant productions are The Paramedic (2020), an original Netflix film; Callback (2017), winner of the Golden Biznaga Award for Best Feature Film, Best Script and Best Actor at the Malaga Film Festival, distributed in Latin America by Buena Vista International; American Jesus (2014), distributed worldwide and sold to WarnerMedia. He joined the Spanish Film Academy.
2003 — 2013
In 2004 he wrote and directed his first feature film, which was selected in several international film festivals. In 2007 he founded Zabriskie Films, an independent film production company based in Barcelona, Spain. Between years 2009 and 2013 he worked as a teacher at Barcelona’s Film School ECIB. He also was a jury member of the Sitges Film Festival. He joined the Catalan Film Academy.
