Carles Torras is a Spanish filmmaker, whose career spans more than 15 years. He has written and directed works such as Callback (2016), Open 24h (2011), Trash (2009) and Joves (2004). His films have participated at major film festivals like San Sebastian, BFI London, Sitges and Mar de Plata, among others, and accumulates more than 30 nominations and awards.
His last most relevant productions are Callback (2016), winner of the Golden Biznaga Award for Best Feature Film, Best Script and Best Actor at the Malaga Film Festival, distributed in Latin America by Buenavista International (Disney), and American Jesus (2014), distributed worldwide and sold to Time Warner and Netflix. He is a member of the Catalan Film Academy.
In 2004 he wrote and directed, together with Ramón Térmens, his first feature film, which was selected in several international festivals. In 2007 he founded Zabriskie Films, an independent production company based in Barcelona. Between 2009 and 2013 he worked as a teacher at Barcelona Film School (ECIB). He also was a jury member of the Sitges Film Festival.
